My Amanita Muscaria Story

When I began my microdosing journey with Amanita, I experienced a radical shift in my nervous system for the first time in my life.

When I took my first dose of Amanita, I felt something I had never quite felt in my body — calm, relaxed, and yet present and awake….safe.

When I found this mushroom, I had been dealing with high anxiety, addiction, panic attacks, depression, grief, PTSD, and a cycle of Insomnia that had been going on for 4 years. The sleep deprivation had begun to significantly impair my physical and mental functioning. Participating with life was no longer an option, I spent most of my time just figuring out how to survive and get through the day.

At that point, I had tried an extraordinary amount of approaches for mental health and healing, and yet none had really addressed the core issue….my nervous system and neurodivergent brain functioning.

I am a Highly Sensitive Person, “A highly sensitive person (HSP) is a neurodivergent individual who is thought to have an increased or deeper central nervous system sensitivity to physical, emotional, or social stimuli”.

Additionally, I have Sensory Processing Disorder - a neurological divergent brain style where my brain mixes up sensory input and triggers my body into fight or flight where it then gets stuck in that way of functioning.

One fateful day, I heard a podcast where a woman shared her story of how Amanita Muscaria helped her heal and get her life back. Her story was both extreme and inspiring. I began to follow her work and do my own research in order to start my own microdosing journey.

From the moment I began working with Amanita, my nervous system rapidly experienced a new equilibrium. I was in a whole new world, one where my system was not on the defense anymore. I gained greater access to my own abilities and giftings. I felt hopeful and empowered.

What this looks like:

  • I no longer experience Insomnia

  • My depression lifted and I have access to a much clearer way of feeling, seeing, thinking, being….it feels more like me.

  • Anxiety does not consume my body, I have the strength and resilience to process what needs to be processed

  • I no longer "crave” or “need” substances to regulate my system and withstand both my inner and outer worlds

  • Increased tolerance for sensory input

  • Increased focusing abilities

  • Reclamation of creativity

  • Engagement with social and outer life with joy and ease

Definitions:

Neurodivergent : “The term “neurodivergent” describes people whose brain differences affect how their brain works. That means they have different strengths and challenges from people whose brains don't have those differences.” - clevelandclinic.org

Fight of Flight: “The fight or flight response is an automatic physiological reaction to an event that is perceived as stressful or frightening. The perception of threat activates the sympathetic nervous system and triggers an acute stress response that prepares the body to fight or flee.” - psychologytools.com
